I ordered Realflight G3.5, so now I have something to practice on while waiting for parts
I have had a G3 sim for several months now and it was instrumental in my being able to hover the Falcon right out of the box . I just played around with some of the settings the other night and made it more like the Falcon 3D . I took the Dominion3D copter and painted the canopy red then changed things like weight , selected electric motor , no clutch , turned off the smoke and all that to make it simulate the falcon pretty darn close . There is still a muffler hanging off the side but it flys like the little Falcon better than the other helis in G3 it seems . Fun stuff
I use the Easton 2212 arrow shaft in mine and it fits better than the 2213 I tried , not sure what's up there with others having luck with the 13's . You can also pick up used arrows at your local archery/hunting store for about 2 bucks each sometimes
Concerning the gear snapping off the carbon shaft for the tail rotor make sure when you make your own boom that the bearings are as close to the ends of the boom and gear as possible . Don't leave enough room between the bearing and the little white gears for the shaft to flex . The gear I had snap the other day was due to this as I looked more closely . I have only had the one gear snap off and the bearing was mounted about an 1/8 inch recessed into the boom .
This is the Easton 2212 arrow shaft and bearings installed that I have had great success with ..notice the bearings are almost flush with the boom end .
Sorry to ask, but where do I buy those damn arrows? Someone said at a hunters store, what kind of store is that? Can you give me a store name? I just ordered a new tail boom for my almost new (less than a month) Falcon 3D and the damn boom costs $13 dollars, but if I can make one with one of those arrows and be less expensive, the hell with the factory boom then... and probably that arrow would last longer than the stock boom. Well, mine was working OK it just got smashed by the main rotor blades like 2-3 times and it started to look real bad, even when I took the CF shaft out, I noticed right where the boom was smacked that the CF rod was thinner, of course do to the friction with the inner side of the tail boom that was already smacked to the inside.. Sooner or later that CF shaft would have break at that point anyway being thinner and more fragile right there.
Again, what kind of store sell those arrows? Can you tell me a store name?
