Default RE: Problem With The Falcon 3D Tail

ORIGINAL: vladz

Well, did you read the links I give to you? I'll bet you don't
NO, I didn't, but now that you explained it I understand, and I don't have to look...hehe

In order to accomodate the front gear on 3mm shaft just drill that gear with something like 2.97mm and put it on JBWeld.
Got it, so you just drill the hole on the gear to make it round. Damn, 2.97 mm? That's very accurate, where do you get a bit 2.97 mm and not 3 mm? - I have some Locktite 5-minute Epoxy, that should be the same as your JBWeld which is epoxy anyway.

The other end of the rod - just make a notch on the rod with exacto knife and rear gear will be happy.
Okay, I will do that next time. For the time being I ordered the parts from Hobby-Lobby.com next time this ever happens again I'll do it this other way which should last longer....and if the thing breaks again, I'll switch to belt-driven buying me the conversion kit I was about to buy anyway.

I think teflon gears are ok... just make sure that mesh main gear/tail drive shaft gear is not too tight and not too loose.
Well, when I said Teflon, it was because the plastic white gear on the Falcon 3D looks made of Teflon anyway. I would actually prefer that it was metallic, bronze or some like that, but I would guess that would make the main rotor gear break teeth sooner, being plastic the softer part. I think it's the Shogun heli that has that gear made of metal, but I'm not sure, I am only based on the picture I saw on the web of the replacement part of a Shogun tail shaft. I was going to order the Shogun tail shaft, someone said the boom on the Shogun is shorter than the Falcon 3D, which after all isn't a big deal, because I would just cut the Falcon 3D boom and make it shorter.....but again, I already ordered the Falcon 3D parts two days ago.

Okay, thanks....regards
