Default RE: Austin Clubs

ORIGINAL: kerklein2

I am trying to get back into RC airplanes after not being able to for a while. I am 21, and in college. I have successfully flown two different trainers and have a Four Star 40 that has been ready to go for about 3 or 4 years now. What I wanted to know was what information anyone had about the two different clubs in Austin. What are the people like? Is there a younger crowd at either club? Any information about both clubs would be great.
Welcome back to the addiction Kerklein. I would suggest going down and take a look for yourself. I have several different clubs around me and I went to about 4 of them to see which one I like the best. Just seemed the best thing to do. I went to dirt, grass and paved runways and talked to a lot of the people there. I didn't even have a plane with me. I was just looking. The club I joined was the friendlest and has the paved runway. They were easy to talk to and immediately asked me if I was out here to fly or just watching. I told them I was interested in flying and they took me right out on a trainer and buddy box. The other fields seemed like they were a little too good for the newbies. Anyway, take a trip and see what you prefer. What is good for one may not be good for you. Good luck with your search.
