RE: DPM rides again....MAYBE!
Okay, the truth be known...I am he who doth fly and own cub in photo's....I stripped the gear out of the plane and put the structure to rest in my garbage can....it was tuff to do....I already have another World model 1/3 on order through RC Modeler Northwest, Aloha Oregon 503.649.0633. It will arrive on Friday...This is a wonderful flying plane and a hoot to fly. Yes, it was a fail safe issue activated out of my error...I did not have the batteries adequately charged and the two quarter scale servo's that I have in it drained the batteries beyond what was safe.....The reality of it all is that this plane is merely a practice plane at a mere $3,800....it is in preparation of a scale 1/3 PA18 that is scratch built...it will for all intensive purposes be exacting to a full scale Vero Beach PA18...the full scale version is very rare in fact only 23 or 24 built in the 80's...it is this same version that Dave Patrick has replicated his 1/4 scale after...I know this first hand because of my relationship with others who actually designed Dave's plane...It is this same person that was so kind to provide me with drawings and some very critical detailed parts for my scratch built....I have been constructing my PA18 for about 4 years now...a very slow process because of a demanding career and due to having to loving young kids to raise. My hope is to complete it in 2008 and qualify it for Top Gun and the Scale Masters finals. Until then, I will practice with my ARF wanta be PA18...conversion with flaps on it to follow soon....by the way...the WM Cub does great knife edges, stall turns, loops and great ground control....thanks World Models...only draw back, the plan is no where scale to a J3 or Super Cub just a like resembalance....I would say keep em in one piece but.......til then Kelly
