Default RE: Roberts rules of order?????

ORIGINAL: SSRCCPREZ

Well, for small clubs maybe one m,eeting or two a year works. For us, a club of over 180members who run 7 major events a year, runs youth intro programs, has asset management to deal with, and is a major contributor to it's community, two meetings a year would not do at all. Robert's rules are definately needed in a club of any size of notability because it is the way a club, organization or municipality should be and is run. KNowledge of Robert's rules extends far beyond R/C clubs, far, far, beyond. Furhter, I do know why I joined an R/C club. I not only enjoy our open space that we manage, but I promote the hobby and promogate the pilots through youth programs and District sponsored events. remeber why I joined? Sure do, and others like me are thankful we did.
OK, sounds good.... But do you have Mexican food and beer at your meetings? Makes me wonder... at just what size a club can't have Mexican food and beer and needs more than two meetings a year. 20, 30, 60...

SSRCCPREZ Believe it or not I think RRoO is a much needed tool in many instances also maintain order. Of course, many flying clubs like a more casual structure as well and that is just fine too but there should always be some prescribed order outlined within club bylaws that can be invoked if the need arises.
