Default 3W75 quit in flight (Maybe ignition)

I have a 3W75i engine in my H9 330L. This engine has been the most reliable r/c engine I have ever owned. I have run 75+ gallons through it with no trouble. While I was flying today the engine quit. I could hear it start to lose power. I throttled back to bring it in to check it over. About 3 seconds later it quit. After I got it back in the pits I could not even get a pop out of it. I checked the voltage on the ignition battery and it was fine. I pulled the plug and placed it in the cap and spun the prop briskly with no evidence of a spark. I checked the spark plug out with my weed wacker and it sparked just fine. I suspect that the ignition or the pickup is dead. This is the old 3W ignition (1 magnet). Is there any way to check to see if maybe the pickup has failed (no pulse to ignition box)? If I do need a new ignition is there alternative replacement than the 3W($199 from Cactus)? CH maybe?

Thanks,

Sean
