Kweas, you're about 18 years behind the times, I have two of the High Compression variety, an .80 and a 1.50 neither is a problem. As X mentioned, firing them up is a no brainer. If my memory is correct the .80 is 15.6 to 1 compression and the 1.50 is 14.4 to 1. If I had my way they would all be that high. I'd venture to say that my Enya 1.55 is very close to those numbers.
