Default RE: Great Planes Ultimate Bipe electric

Hi Mrbigg........

So the carbon fiber I used was 3/32" rod for "tail braces/flying wires"
3mm x .5mm flat carbon fiber strip on all outer edges of elevators/stabs...and on top in various places...(see photos)

Highly recommend strengthening/bracing tail surfaces!!!!!!!!

Setup:
1. E-flite 480 outrunner (approx.$70.00)

2. castle creations pheonix 35 ESC (approx $85) have an E-flite 40 amp ESC on another plane ($55) works good.

3. thunder power 2100 15c 3cell 11.1 volt Li-po Battery ($70)........2 batts are nice...fly with one while other charging!!

4. 4x hitec hs-55 servos ($15) cheap but work........suggest a better servo for elevator and rudder(ex. hitec hs-56 or 65)

5. Hitec full size 7 channel reciever/crystal ($60)

6. 11 x 7 apc slowflyer prop. I think they deliver more thrust than the regular electric props. ($3)

7. 2" dave brown Lite wheels ($5-6) Really helps when club field is infested with gopher holes..........

8. control horn for skid by rudder......lost the original lite-ply one somewhere in flying field......
control horn CA'd on and screwed on.....works great!! (free...from a crashed glow plane)

9. Flat aluminum motor mount.........made by me....Take arf motor mount and 480's motor mount and mark all the holes.
bust out the dremel and voila!!! Aluminum is .064" thick.

10. "Deans" connectors on Batt and ESC(electronic speed control) use female on Battery to prevent shorting. Male on ESC.

E-flite is from Horizon hobby....Thunder power also from Horizon......hitec and castle creations are common stuff.
Dave brown can be found at Tower(my LHS orders them for me)....flat aluminum from rack at hardware store.

Hope this helps...I love this plane.....just needed a little "modification" to handle my flying style etc...

Any questions? Just ask.......

Murph.........
