I have a 45cc gas engine to install on my Edge540. On the engine box of the plane there are vertical and horizontal lines marked, offset from centre but that's all I have to go on. There was no mounting template included in the instruction booklet or with the engine.
What's the best way to get the engine installed and in the correct position using those lines already marked on the engine box?
Also, with the lines offset from centre does that mean I still have to use washers under one side of the engine when mounting it to get correct thrust or is that why you set the engine up slightly off centre?
Thanks, FJ
The horizontal & vertical lines are there to center the engine on they are ofset to compinsate for the ofset of the firewal to counter engine thrust.
Another way is to set the engine on the firewall, put the cowl on, center the thrust washer in the cowl mark around the engin standoffs for drilling the bolt holes.
hope that helps, if I can answer any more questions let me know.
