I would think if you locked the center diff. and removed the front drive shaft it would actually be less stress on the transmission because now it only has 2 wheels to drive and not 4. Are you trying to balance acceleration out or why would you want to convert a well designed 4wd to 2wd?
Actually come to think of it, you should make it FWD only, put a giant shopping cart wing on the rear, and a coffee can sized exhaust tip on the pipe, oh and don't forget the VTEC, VVti, Cobra, and 5.0L stickers!
