VMAR
Rap,
I didn't know anyone else owned one..LOL>
The response was more than comfortable. Like I said before,I let one of the experts fly it first and he had a hard time with it..Way too much elevator. We brought it in and adjusted the D/R on the radio and tried it again. We went to A low rate on the elevator of 45% and it was much better.I took the radio and flew it a little and I guess I could get comfy with it with enough stick time, but it's a hand full.Seems like with the heavy wing loading it's going to have to come in pretty quick to keep from stalling. My guess.
I don't really know if I can give a complete story yet as I have flown it only once.If I can get brave enough I'll take it to the field tomorror and see if I can bring it home in one piece.
The covering thing really got me tho'.The covering is not stuck to the wood anywhere I don't think.A little sun at 72 degrees and watch out. Huge bubbles everywhere.
I started out putting a OS 61 SF in it but after trying to fit the engine in it it would have looked like doo-doo. The reason is that the 61 is a large motor with a big carb and I would have had to really butcher the cowl to get it to fit.The cowling would not have enough support after the cutting and would flap and vibrate.I was a bit leary of putting the OS70 4S in it being that the 70 is the low end of what they recommend.I didn't figure it would get it off the ground, but it did quiet nicely.Plenty of power.I'm running a 12X8 prop.
I don't know.I guess its 169 worth but I think if I did it again I would shop arouind and look at the other arf's.If they were any where close to the price I'd go for it.
Where do you stand with yours??
Later...Walt
