I burn mine in on the benchtop free from linkages with a Hitec programmer plus an ammeter in line. This way I can chart the voltage and amps when new, at the end of burn in and then again once it goes into the model to indicate quality of linkages.

I also follow up with the same measurements once in a while before flying to keep a check on the health of things.
