Default RE: Good solid first EDF?

Nitro Dew,

I would highly recommend you take a look at www.warbirds-rc.com ; Markos has the largest selection of EDF's that I have seen anywhere and excellent service and support to back them up. Also, all of his prices already include shipping, so you get a really good deal. In addition, he has parts and even an entire replacement plan for you jet model, where you can get a replacement in the case of a crash at a much discounted price...he wants to keep you in the air with minimum pain and that's real customer care. Moreover, he has online assembly manuals for most of the HET-RC jets as well as K&A and others and you can visit his "Research Center" to view assembly of these prior to purchase.

I would personally recommend the FA-18, F-20 or possibly the Sniper and all three will fly well on a 3S lipo setup, which you can upgrade later with only a motor and battery change. The Minifan sized models are the way to go when getting into ducted fan jets as they have the largest selection of aircraft and they are all capable of flying on the same power setup, so you can move your fan/motor/esc/battery from jet to jet, which is a great savings to the modeler. Best of luck with your choice and keep us posted.
