Default Good solid first EDF?

Hello folks,

Although I've been flying a while, I'm new to the EDF world and would like to find a reasonably inexpensive EDF. Could I get some suggestions on the best one? Speed isn't a problem ... looking for stability and quality. Thanks for any help.

Try the Electric Jet Factory www.ejf.com the Sport Jet 70 is a great EDJ. Fast or slow it is very stable, uses only 3 cell lipo which helps keep cost down.

The GWS F-15 is a perfect trainer and flies very well.

Our AeroSport EDF is a nice entry into the world of ducted fans. It is very stable and easy to fly, yet will go pretty fast if you want it to. We're using the XF-Fan with a 5100 kv brushless motor, which is a very nice quality package. It flies on 3 cells from 1500 to 2100 mah.

Plane, fan, and motor are around $130.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Scott

Nitro Dew,

I would highly recommend you take a look at www.warbirds-rc.com ; Markos has the largest selection of EDF's that I have seen anywhere and excellent service and support to back them up. Also, all of his prices already include shipping, so you get a really good deal. In addition, he has parts and even an entire replacement plan for you jet model, where you can get a replacement in the case of a crash at a much discounted price...he wants to keep you in the air with minimum pain and that's real customer care. Moreover, he has online assembly manuals for most of the HET-RC jets as well as K&A and others and you can visit his "Research Center" to view assembly of these prior to purchase.

I would personally recommend the FA-18, F-20 or possibly the Sniper and all three will fly well on a 3S lipo setup, which you can upgrade later with only a motor and battery change. The Minifan sized models are the way to go when getting into ducted fan jets as they have the largest selection of aircraft and they are all capable of flying on the same power setup, so you can move your fan/motor/esc/battery from jet to jet, which is a great savings to the modeler. Best of luck with your choice and keep us posted.

I found a couple of videos of my son flying the EJF Sport Jet 70

This was at the Best in the West Jet Rally
http://home.dc.rr.com/maurie

Then choose bitw9.wmv

This was at Speedworld Jet Rally

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...t=ryan+sherrow

Sometimes video says it all.

Any other help please let me know.

My two cents here is that the EJF SportJet 70 is a lot easier to assemble than any of the HET airplanes. Easier routing of wires, setup of the fan unit, etc.
