Default RE: Whats the difference

I just got my Belt CP yesterday - and I have a Trex 450se w/DX7 and 401.

Here is what I can tell so far.

In basic hover, there is just simply no difference. They fly the same, they sound the same, they almost feel the same, minus the fact that the DX7 is a FAR superior radio. At times, the Belt CP even seems more stable than the Trex, which may be because it's new and hasn't been wrecked, I will give the Trex that.

I've had the Belt CP upside down, and done some basic FFF and a couple rolls, and then the second pack died and I had to go to work. Other than the cyclic being a little slower, the only advantage the Trex seems to have is slightly smoother operating, which I'm sure is the quality of the servos. At 400$ for Radio and Servo's, I would hope so.

The Belt CP collective and cyclic seem to be slightly less responsive, which I can easily attribute to the quality of the servos in the Belt CP. However, the Belt CP responds just fine, and when the Esky servos crap out, they are a fair bit cheaper than the ones my DX7 came with.

Build quality is really excellent, as far as I'm concerned. I haven't noticed any loose parts or shakes or rattles. It's plastic, but guess what. I paid 220$ for a complete 400 size heli, w/radio and all electronics, BL installed, and a LiPo.

My Trex was 500 + 150 + 400 and the carbon fiber stuff after that. I have 1000$ in my Trex before I even started to upgrade it. I'm considering buying ANOTHER 401 to put on the Belt CP.

I'm sorry, but there is just no comparison. If you want a good heli and you don't want to spend bookoo bucks to get it, Trex loses in a heartbeat.

For 200 + 300 you can have a Belt CP"se". The CF kit w/CNC head is 300$ for the Belt CP. That STILL puts me at HALF the cost of the Trex. Granted, I would never take my Belt CP to fly at the field or for any sort of competition, but thats comparing apples to oranges.

The Belt CP was OBVIOUSLY not intended to be a competitive machine, it's 200 freakin' dollars.

I would buy another Belt CP in a heartbeat if given the opportunity, and I may even get another Rx for it so I can use my DX7 with it.

It really is two completely different items you are comparing.

The Trex is obviously the high performance machine, the Belt CP is an awesome beginners entry into the 400 size class, and to someone who has never flown a 1200$ helicopter, there will be no difference in their minds.

Someone who is new has no idea what "Servo Slop" is, and probably doesn't care. They won't be doing anything hard enough to notice slop for 4-6 months if they are a FAST learner. And by then they may be able to afford a Trex anyways. And I don't know if you've seen the videos yet, but go to rchelicoptershop.com and watch the videos of the Belt CP. Again, it's not a true competitor for the Trex, but it does most of the stuff a Trex will do at 1/5th the price.
