small (40mm) motherboard/northbridge fans should be fine, as long as theyre getting 7-8 volts (they run at 12v regularly) they'll be fine. They "can" run at 5v, but thats often its not enough voltage to start them spinning (when you first turn them on)

As for his heatsinks, they look like theyre out of a power supply (PSU)
