Brushless and three in one.
OK. Confused again - thanks to all those who have un-confused me in the past. I have now gone brushless on the main motor and followed the directions in the manual. When I first set it up, the brushless motor was very jumpy/skipping along. Thought I had bent the main shaft putting on the pinion. I did not. I had a faulty E-Flite ESC that caused the motor/battery/esc to heat severely within a minute or two of running it. Had a spare 20A esc that I am now using and works just fine, but have not been able to get the tail operating correctly since. I have a G90 gyro on the heli and I am using the the 3 in 1 as described in the manual setup for the brushless option.
When I hook it all up, the tail motor only comes on when the throttle reaches a certain point and then seems to accelerate incrementally with the throttle, not with the rudder control. The rudder control has no effect over the rudder blade speed. It is as if the throttle controls it. That is the case whether the g90 is in line or bypassed. I also have a seperate esc that I was hooking up to the tail motor to replace the 3 in 1 and no option really works. With the gyro armed, quickly moving the heli in either direction does not cause any tail rotor action.
Any ideas?
