Here is a design that I myself built and is a pretty easy one. It includes one motor and prop pushing air into a duct, which splits the air and takes 70% for thrust and 30% for lift
It uses common air rudders for steering and I will post a pic of them if needed.
This design may not be what you are looking for but is a very good start and I highly recomend it ( but it does drain your bataries while in hover though) Use Lipos!
