Not true. Not ours, anyhow. First apple leaves, then birch leaves, then hickory leaves, then maple and oak. Then dandilions. THEN grass or hay, but never a thistle or nettle. They're much more finicky than a sheep or a horse. Soft little mouths with no upper teeth.
Big failures in lawn control. I tried.
Good in a curry sauce, though.
