Four Stroke engine sizes on twins
Hi!
I'm building a Marutaka DC-3 (started in -79 ) but lost interest in it after a couple of years but started building again in -2000.
Plan is to use two OS .26 FS engines and 10x5 props (I have plans molding my own 3-blade carbon props for it). Goal is to make it fly at 3kg using Giezendanner electrical retracts (takes 5 seconds to retracts wheels).
I have made new cowls and oilcooler for itin glassfiber instead of the balsa and aluminium ones made by Marutaka, more scalelike than the original.
Plan is to use Oracover chrome film sanded down with fine 2000 grade wet sandpapper so that the shine goes away and in small pieces on the wings so that it looks like the real thing.
The same on the fuselage or might use aluminium tape in small pieces.......have not decided yet.
Fueltanks is a problem on this ship....I have soldered my own 4 oz fueltanks from tin sheet , horseshoe shaped, so that they fit behind the 2,5mm plywood firewall and give room for the 9cm in diameter balloon wheels when they are retracted. Having the fueltank centrally placed in the fuselage like the plans says is not what I would call a good place for it!
Hope to fly it this summer.
Regards!
