Try moving the CG up a little. It sound a lot like my first flight. I had the battery on the tray behind the canopy. I moved it to the place in front of the fuel tank. This helped a ton. I also ran a string through the center ply rib on top of the cabanes right at the cg point. After I put the wings back on I could pick the plane up by the string to check the CG.
