RE: Second airplane best option for intermediate
I think any of these would make a fine 2nd plane. I would also throw in the Sig Four Star 40, which is a traditional 2nd plane. Some things to consider:
- I prefer tail draggers. I know that the Goldberg Tiger comes as a trike, but it can be modified to a taildragger. The others are all designed as taildraggers.
- If you want to build a kit, you can build a Four Star or a Tiger, or get them as ARF's. The other two are only available as ARF's.
- It looks like the BH models are quite a bit cheaper, but I wouldn't let that sway my decision. The other manufacturers all have great reputations.
- Hopefully you plan to keep your trainer intact (don't cannibalize it for your second plane). If you don't already have a computer radio, now might be the time to upgrade. I waited until my fourth, at which time I was juggling three identical TX's for three planes. It can become a headache.
Good luck with whichever one you choose.
