Go for it I did the same to my old Telemaster 40, may It RIP (student did it in). The mods didn't change a thing. The Telemaster is very forgiving to say the least.
As the 40 size flys well with a 40-46 size 2 stroke (had a 52 4 stroke on mine) what kind of gasser are you using, that might be something to consider as this plane does not require a lot of power.
