Yes we have the same bomb drops in the US. And they are fun. I put paint balls in them and loosely put them together. This makes a cluster bomb.
Do the paint balls splat on the ground upon impact or just bounce or ? I don't do paint ball so I'm not that familiar with them.
I used to have multiple Vortec bombs on a plane back in the early 80's. We'd fill it them with flour and they would make a nice white clound and spot on the ground when they hit. Midwest Sweet Stiks would carry 5 of the with no problem - 2 under each wing and one under the fuselage.
