You should leave it like it is. This is the way it was designed to fly.
Note: I'm assuming you have bought a Ready-to-Fly plane. these are all pre-engineered to operate properly and modifications take a little more thought than this.

Changing props or eliminating gearboxes can overload (or underload) a motor. Changing a motor can cause a need for a different speed controller (ESC) and/or battery pack. Changing battery packs can cause a need for an entirely different type of battery charger. Not doing any of these can cause a need for a new plane.[:@]
