I am not sure a 400 size motor would get a 3lb airplane off the ground. I have a couple of fomies with 400s in them and they are about 12oz planes.
The Superstar is already a trainer plane, why do you want to change what already works the way it should.
A better bet is to find an instructor at a local club to help you.
