I'm in the same "boat", I have an old Wescraft B-17 kit with no shucks. I am thinking about using contac cement or possibly learning to vacum bag. I did build a Gee Bee, from Jack Devine models, and all the foam cores in that kit, were sheeted with contac cement, so I know I can do that.
If you use contac cement, you make sure it will not attack the foam.
