Gotcha now, and yes. I believe you probably have to relieve the wood on the wing proper where that block connects.

Hint - put a drop of oil in the tube before gluing it up to prevent epoxy of whatever you are using from seeping in and locking it up. Just a tiny bit of oil is all that's needed, but it can make a big difference. Wipe the outside of the tube with alcohol or acetone before gluing to remove any that has seeped onto the outside.
