I remember in the 90's when all we had was futaba am's junior am's etc. And they always worked flawlessly while todays pcm's etc. didn't work at all. You can pick up those older am's for 10-30 bucks, put a failsafe onit. And I don't see why it wouldn't work. You just won't have any lcd's or bells and whissels. And the futaba magnum junior had all the end point adjustments too.
Also that boat looks like a great entry level sportboat with plenty of speed and handling for a begginer/sportboater with more speed easily attainable with a good pipe!

I have seen alot of jr xs3's going complete for 60bucks! That would make a great radio for this setup.

Also that am futaba above for 50bucks would be a good way to go 2
