Other than cleaning and after run oil in the engine...there isn't that much more mainenance then a high performance electric. Even electric can be a pain maint-wise if you push it hard all the time.

Think about it, if you drove a full size vehile as hard as you drive the r/c...you'd be replacing parts on it just as much. These cars are tough, but all the punishment and power will wear them down.
