Help me choosing a model please!
I have heard all good things about the Hobbico Extra. Do a search on here, it will take some careful looking, but I've found a few reviews on here in the ARF forum. I have one and am 99.9% done (have to attach canopy). I can tell you right now the hardware is ****. They talk about "high G" manuevers, but they include plastic flexible pushrods, and the screws and clevis's are smaller than 2-56. I ended up soldering on a threaded coupler for the elevator and putting on a better clevis. If I could do it again I would definetly use metal pushrods (split elevator though, you would have to come up with a system for that). Everything else was easy, nice looking plane, covering was alright, a few wrinkles but I poked some holes in it and ironed it down and it was alright. Everything is pretty straight forward, but if you do get it, I have a great way to easily connect the two halves of the wheel pants and cowl. Take a strip of masking tape and put half of it around the inside of the pants/cowling, leaving the other 1/2 sticking out. Then just put the matching half on top, and the masking tape holds it while the glue sets. Made it very easy. I will fly it tomorrow.
By the way I've read on here that it's the best plane a few people have owned. Good luck
