A few years ago I built my LT-40 and made the elevator and rudder removable. I used 3 sex bolts made from aluminum. The sex bolt is a male/female unit about 1 1/4" long. I epoxied the female end into the rudder and made the rudder slightly thicker with thin plywood at the base to help support the bolts. The female nut section of the sex bolt protrudes from the base of the rudder about 3/8", allowing it to pass through holes drilled in the elevator. I put holes in the underside of the fuselage to unscrew the whole assembly. Sorry, no pics but it works like a charm. Sex bolts , sometimes called binder bolts, were bought from Lowes. I've also seen them at craft stores. Good luck.
