A wedge of plywood will take up the same thickness as the corect amount of washers and could be epoxyed in place. If done with a little custom fitting it could be undetectable. If you do use washers harden the firewall with CA or Epoxy so the washer don't sink into the wood at all. ..... Many a washer has found its home on the left side of RC motor.
