You could probably get by without balancing the pack. But, to follow the recommended course of action... to ensure your batteries will last longer.... you might want to return the packs without balancing leads and get ones that do have balancing leads. OR, if you're handy with a soldering iron and want the experience, you could add your own balance taps. While this is guaranteed to be more trouble than its worth, it is an option and you might choose that route if you were interested in learning. Of course, LiPos are a bit more volatile and sensitive to heat... with catastrophic results. You would definitely want to do some reading and learning before you tried to add them on your own.
