RE: looking for advice on purchsing a beginner rc plane
I think the Easy Star linked above is a good choice but it is not RTF. If you've never flown before, get a HobbyZone Super Cub or the Parkzone J3 Cub. If you have some experience, try a ParkZone T-28. These are great quality RTF's that can take some damage at the hands of a novice without requiring long hours of repairs. I strongly recommend you train on a simulator first before you fly. : )
