hi ... I'm not looking for anything fancy or expensive.. wanting to get some sortof rc plane for my father, price range 150.00 and below, would like it to be RTF.. just something for us to do on christmas day rather easily and have a bit of fun, i can charge batteries night before etc.. i have no clue which plane to purchase or to which direction to begin looking. If someone could give me like 5 planes as a recommendation for me to choose from that would be great.
thanks much

I had one of these. My son-in-law started flying it from scratch after I got it in the air for him.

After some experience he bought one of these which he uses mostly now. They use the same batteries and chargers

Each one is self contained in one box for everything. When you are done, stand it up in a corner of the closet.
If you break it, spare parts are reasonable at most hobby shops.
My son-in-law broke a wing. Instead of repairing the wing, he just bought a new one at the hobby shop.
With two batteries for each plane and two chargers, he can fly continuously until he is blue in the face.
The draw back to a small light weight plane like this is that you cannot have any wind. This is explained in the instructions. He flies very early in the morning or very late in the afternoon.

I presume neither you or your know how to fly.
This plane offers the best chance for you to actually fly.

I think the Easy Star linked above is a good choice but it is not RTF. If you've never flown before, get a HobbyZone Super Cub or the Parkzone J3 Cub. If you have some experience, try a ParkZone T-28. These are great quality RTF's that can take some damage at the hands of a novice without requiring long hours of repairs. I strongly recommend you train on a simulator first before you fly. : )

I would recomend the Hobbyzone super cub, i think it;s like 160, but it's a great plane, i don't own one but i know a few people that have one and love it

If you stick to Hobbyzone and Parkzone you probably can't go wrong. I started out with electrics and bought all of the wrong ones without knowing. These are both very good for beginners and, unlike many other brands, actually fly!!!

Just be aware that VERY little movement on the sticks makes BIG changes to the plane. That's how most folks starting out crash. Basically, if you can see your thumbs moving on the sticks, you're over-controlling the plane. Enjoy!!
