I used a product from Flair called balsaloc, I lifted the edges painted it on then ironed it down when dry, its been ok so far but it was a absolute pain to do and took days!!

Ask around you may find a better product or methos for doing it. But whatever you do...do something as it is a shame to see a lovely looking plane look tatty after a short time.
