I don't know about your specific area, but to see the popularity of the various combat events in sanctioned meets on a national scale, check here: http://www.rccombat.com/nps/index.asp SSC is the most popular class, followed by Open B, with the scale classes pulling up the rear.

If you're in Knoxville, there are SSC meets in Jackson, TN; sometimes Nashville area, several in Georgia every year, and more as you get further away. There may or may not be a scale meet in Nashville next year.
