You want the mid point of the tank to be about even with the spray bar of the carb. Unless you use a uniflow 3 line type of setup for the fuel feed. Which is what I have in my cub because the engine is inverted and I can not set the tank that low.
Where you have a back hoe, and plan to make your own runway, perhaps you might want to consider setting up your own charted flying site...
