Default Here it goes!

This is the kind of subject that replying is like volunteering to be the next gopher to stick your head out to see if the farmer still has his gun.

I would not hesitate to buy a new SuperTigre .40 or .45 and yes Tower does have them in stock. My next choice would be Thundertiger Pro series. I haven't checked but I have recently seen posts here complaining that they are falling behind on orders. I would not hesitate to buy a Tower .46. but it would be my third choice. All three of these mfgrs. use real chromed sleeves instead of nickel so you will have to tolerate a longer break-in period. The .40 ST is ringed of course. Not a bad trade off for the integrity of ringed or chromed vs. nickel. If I were going to buy a bushing motor my only consideration would be a GP.42. I really don't think there is a more cost effective motor on the market.

In the end I think the honest truth is your happiness in whichever motor you choose will be dependent upon your ability to: set up you plane properly (tank height etc.) , to properly break- in and tune your motor(read the instructions). and how well you take care of it avoiding lean runs, using after run oil etc.

Enjoy whatever you fly with and you can't go wrong. Take care, Cliff
