A friend I fly with has built a homemade adaptor to link the combat module to standard electronics. Beauty of his device is no PIC programming chip. Anybody can throw one together with moderate soldering skills and probably get all the parts at Radio Shack. Read this thread....and be sure to follow the link to the original thread because he might have more updates on there. If you build and use one please post about it. This build will probably only cost you about $10-$20 in parts. Less if you have some of these very comon components laying around.
