Take your fuel soaked fuse outside somewhere and spray "Ether" (Starting Fluid) on the fuel soaked area. Use a lot, it will remove exhaust oil spots from untreated wood as well. Best to not be near an open flame while spraying to avoid the flame thrower thing. Avoid smoking at the time as well.
