Choke rod is very nice... but will get sawn in two in short order from vibration. I'd overdrill the hole, and stick a grommet in there, or a thin piece of fuel tubing on the carbon rod, maybe? A little friction won't hurt, and you'll want to dampen vibes.

Correct on the Vess, and the longer bolts... I think my longer ones are 45mm for mine.... fortunately, the Vess hub is standard, so even the 23" is the same. One set of "extra" bolts is all you'll need.
