arent the single cells just 3.3 volts?
Yep. Still work just dandy. There's a thread in this forum about "A123 Cells on Ignition".... lots of good info there. josey wales is running the single, and also has used (as I have) a 2S with dropping diodes to get to 5.4v so non-Rc Excell igntiions won't fry.
Bosco2 - you are correct, Troy Built has lots of good electronics accessories, but the disadvantages of LiPos for me made up my mind to do the A123. Once I did, it was over for me. They (the A 123) are really outstanding batteries with none of the risks from handling errors, and easier to manage charge/discharge with. To each their own; I know there are THOUSANDS of lipo users out there happy as a clam.
I like the A123, and enjoy "testing" other ways to skin all of these cats in our hobby.....
