Default RE: Central Hobbies CF pushrods

ORIGINAL: Hill202

I want to give the Central Hobby CF pushrods and ends a try. They will be going in an Ultra Stick Lite. What size rod should I use? 5/32 or 3/16?
Also does the JB Weld hold the ends in well?

Thanks

Hill202--

I have used the Central Hobbies CF pushrods a couple of times and they work great. I used the recommended original JB Weld (not the JB Weld "Lite"). Do prep the inside of the CF rod with alcohol first and allow to dry. I had a H9 Ultra-Stick .60 and used the smaller pushrods with no problem – much, much stronger than the provided wire pushrods. Note: I mounted the Rudder/Elevator push rods in the side of the fuselage near the rear because my US60 was very nose heavy and I wanted as much weight in the rear as possible plus it kept the pushrods short. The plane was in a rather violent crash (not pushrod related) and the pushrods were in tact but the ends were bent – I did not want to straighten the rod ends then reuse so I decided to try and pull the rod ends out with pliers and a vice – I could not pull them out without a great deal of difficulty and destroying the CF tube. So yea I think the JB Weld works pretty darn good. Just follow the simple direction and you will be fine.
