Default Central Hobbies CF pushrods

I want to give the Central Hobby CF pushrods and ends a try. They will be going in an Ultra Stick Lite. What size rod should I use? 5/32 or 3/16?
Also does the JB Weld hold the ends in well?

Thanks

Hill202--

I have used the Central Hobbies CF pushrods a couple of times and they work great. I used the recommended original JB Weld (not the JB Weld "Lite"). Do prep the inside of the CF rod with alcohol first and allow to dry. I had a H9 Ultra-Stick .60 and used the smaller pushrods with no problem – much, much stronger than the provided wire pushrods. Note: I mounted the Rudder/Elevator push rods in the side of the fuselage near the rear because my US60 was very nose heavy and I wanted as much weight in the rear as possible plus it kept the pushrods short. The plane was in a rather violent crash (not pushrod related) and the pushrods were in tact but the ends were bent – I did not want to straighten the rod ends then reuse so I decided to try and pull the rod ends out with pliers and a vice – I could not pull them out without a great deal of difficulty and destroying the CF tube. So yea I think the JB Weld works pretty darn good. Just follow the simple direction and you will be fine.

I've been using these for a # of years now, never a failure. I'm building some for a 1/3 Laser as we speak. I've never used anything but the 5/32 with 4-40 ends. But then all of my rods are 8" or less. If I was going to make a long pushrod I would probably use the 3/16 and support it well within the fuse. I have used both JB Weld and 30 min. epoxy without problems. The JB is probably better and as stated clean your push rod and roughen everthing up a bit with 220 sand cloth.

They look cool also

Here's a shot of them on the tail of my Venus II

Thanks guys, I think I'll go with 5/32. I'm mounting the rudder and elevator servos in the rear so the pushrods won't be over 10" long.

Don, those look great

Thanks again
