Default RE: How cold is too cold?

The hand warmer idea on the battery is A great idea.
I was just out flying yesterday and it was +35 when we started and went up to 40. The lighter fluid trick works great except on my YS but only because the carb is covered and sits upside down.
My only problem with the cold is the hands and eyes. My student was flying his new plane yesterday and that cold TX really got to him fast. A 10 minute flight was about it for him, when it gets down into the 30s and there is A wind he keeps on flying but I don't know how he sees anything with all the tears. Maybe young eyes?
My friends are flying off of snow in Oregon and NY but I think my sim and some corn squeezens is A better idea after it gets into the +30s, anything in the minus temps?? Sorry, I think you are out of your minds and would be holed up and building in A nice warm shop.[8D]
