Default RE: Please Explain this El Mod stuff to me

IR-compatible with Tamiya's battle system in "compatibility mode", the El-mod battle system in its own mode has a few extra features on the Tamiya system.

El-mod sound unit (Blaster) holds a 80 sounds per jumper setting, I think it has 4-6 settings so thats a ton of tanks. Switch the jumpers, whole new sounds (all). Good for switching between tanks. All sounds are held on common SD memory card (included). Idle-moving-revving is much smoother and transitional than Tamiya's overly-repetitive sample style.

Booster (main unit) can handle decent sized motors, TLS deals with Turrets Lights and Shooting (can interface flash unit). Comes in two flavours - "PROP" to work with "regular" aftermarket transmitter/receivers or "HL" which you wire in with your HL board to use the stock HL boards as a receiver/motor sense and stock HL transmitter.

I have a set (Blaster Thinktank M PROP, Booster, TLS, spare Blaster CPU, all wiring etc) sitting in a box, unsure if I'll ever use it with one of my projects.
