Default RE: DL-50 engine

Are any of you challenged by getting the CG just right on your plane? I just finished building the Venessa CG machine (see http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_70.../tm.htm#708060). It works great and it's easy to build.

Here are a couple of pictures of my DL50 equipped Extra 300 on the Venessa. You can't see it in the pics, but the plumb bob is showing that it is balanced just aft of 3 inches belind the leading edge at the wing tip. Book calls for 3 to 3.5. As this is a preliminary balance job to get me in the ball park (and I don't have the muffler mounted yet) I expect that I will have to move the throttle servo back near the CG. Right now it mounted inside the engine box.

In any case, I thought this was a very helpful device and wanted to share it with those of you might be experiencing challenges balancing large airplanes.

Aerobob---This might be something to add to your tips 'n Tools page. I found it very helpful and easy to use.
