It's a second hand car, but I assume it was as per the manual when I got it. I've mentioned in another thread that I *do* have some concerns about the guy's building ability though, so I'm taking this chance to strip the entire thing down and rebuild it from scratch, just to be sure. So, I'll be making sure it's correctly shimmed etc when I reassemble it this week.

I have no reason to suspect that the clutch shoes are non-standard items either. The gear mesh was good (I checked *that* at least before I drove it) too, although I noticed there was a 'tight spot' at one point during the rotation. I used the tight spot to set the mesh when I replaced the bearing the first time.
